36/G273/PA/19 is the number under which Italy registers one of its monumental trees: a Moreton Bay fig (Ficus macrophylla) in the Orto Botanico of Palermo, listed in 2019 for its age and size, its form, its ecological value and its botanical rarity. The coordinates that complete the title stand inside the garden. In the series I began in January 2026, each canvas takes the number of the register its source belongs to; here it is a register of trees. I drew the trunks and the aerial roots in blue-grey. The register fixes the tree in one place; its roots are still on their way down.
